  • Review report:

    • Negatives: The story failed to impress some people (thought it was too direct and ham-fisted), gameplay was boring and shallow (people do not like going back and forth, ever, have something else or make the journey interesting [explore the new, change the back]),

    • Positives: Atmospheric sounds and setup was good, visuals were good, some people liked the puzzles, no jumpscares (good thing?)

Gameplay

  • No sprinting

  • Find notes and open doors into new areas

Music

  • Music is atmospheric droning (I can hear a pop)

  • Music changes based on position of the player

  • Music gets progressively darker, more eerie, played with heavier instruments

Art

  • Start out in a dark room, light pouring in through windows

UI

  • Bland, minimal text overlay for direction

  • Pickup items/notes with right click, little white circle tells you when possible

Writing

  • Notes mention something that ravaged the town of the MC and another woman

  • Note about the cellar, blood mentioned, what’s down there?

  • Father and daughter, one mad the other innocent

  • Notes suggest the father has some primal urges he can no longer keep at bay

  • Revealed the daughter died and her fingers were cut off as a memento

    • Unclear if he ate her, but he very much let her die

    • Heavily implied that he had intercourse with her

Scare Factor

  • The atmosphere is the most tension-building part, not knowing if there may or may not be a scare

    • In all, there were no jumpscares or any monsters to expect

Overall

  • The gameplay is fairly barren with an excellent environment and atmosphere, sounds/music were good, and the story (regardless of personal feelings) is something very rarely seen in media because of how deplorable the subject matter is (This is probably how you win awards)
